Kathleen (Kay) Norma Kidd Allred Simmons was born on March 4, 1923 in Vernal Utah at her family home in Ashley.

She was one of 11 children born to Thomas Edward Kidd, of Montrose, Colorado and Mary Louise Bowes Kidd, from York, England.

Kay married Claudious Allred on August 20, 1939. They have six children, Claudia (Dale) Maclaren, Elaine (Richard) Houston, Jim (Gayle) Allred, Marvin (Carlene) Allred, Bonnie (Virgil) Imler and Glenn (Susan) Allred.

Kay worked alongside Claude for many years at Allred Paint and Glass now known as Jones Paint and Glass as book keeper, shop keeper, glass cutter and serving the customers. As a family business she helped teach her children many of these skills.

Kay also worked at Vernal Drug and Judd's answering service in the following years.

Kay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many positions in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society, and as a Visiting Teacher.

She enjoyed spending time with youth both in social groups and inviting them into her home.

On May 8, 1991 Kay was married to LaVell M. Simmons. They spent many happy years here in Vernal.

While Kay quit her formal education about eighth grade she later went on to earn her GED and took numerous college classes in areas of interest.

She is survived by her children, 23 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, 15 great, great grandchildren and siblings Lula Twitchell, Elva Bennett, Mavis Powell, Doreen Norman, Harry Dee Kidd, and Joy Short.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Kidd; husbands, Claudious Allred and LaVell M. Simmons; brothers and sisters; Maurice Kidd, Arnold Kidd, Loris Fowler, Maron Kidd and Russell J. Kidd.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.

Services were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
