Blomquist Dies Here Saturday; Rites Tomorrow

A heart attack Saturday afternoon caused the death of John Vanner Blomquist, 46, at his home in Bunker Hill.

Blomquist, who had worked as usual at the Coos Bay Lumber company five days last week, suffered the heart attack while he was at home alone, making coffee. Mrs. Blomquist, at work Saturday morning found her husband in the bedroom, alongside the bed, having apparently been trying to get into bed after becoming ill.

At 10:30 a.m. a neighbor saw Mr. Blomquist on the back porch of his house, apparently in good health. Mr. Blomquist was asked if he wished to go into Marshfield and reportedly replied, "No, I'm going to stay home and have lunch ready for my wife." He had been employed by the Coos Bay Lumber company more than 15 years.

He was born Jan. 3, 1893, at Pueblo, Colo., and came to Coos Bay in 1905 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Blomquist, both of whom survive. He wa married March 22, 1919, to Ethel Kirkendall, who survives. Three brothers and three sisters who survive include Victor, Leo and Edward Blomquist, Mrs. Garland Lillie and Mrs. Olivia Westman, all of Coos Bay, and Mrs. J. M. Peters, Hollywood, Cal. Mrs. Peters is expected here this afternoon.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Campbell funeral home.

The Eagles lodge will have charge of services at the grave in Sunset cemetery.
