Lynn & Gladys Harvey
(Died February 3, 2012)
L.M. "Lynn" Harvey, 78, and Gladys Irene Anderson Harvey, 74, husband and wife, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2012 at their residence in Mannington. On May 12, 2012 they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage. Lynn was born November 5, 1933 in Harrison County, a son of the late Raymond E. and Beulah B. Martin Harvey. He was a retired coal miner, having worked for Jordan 93 and Bethlehem Steel. In 1977 he started the family business as Lynn M. Harvey and Sons which he passed on to his 3 sons as Harvey Home Moving and Auto Sales. Gladys was born April 28, 1937 in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Clark and Emma Pearl Anderson. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver. She also was a Stanley Home Products Representative for over 50 years. Together, the Harveys raised 6 children who survive along with their spouses: Altheta "Bo" Harvey and James Holbert of Fairmont, Barb and Roger Fluharty, Mannington, Cathy and Frank Bennett, Morgantown, Dave and Pam Harvey, Ervin and Lori Harvey, and Frank "Jeff" and Cheryl Harvey, all of Mannington, 12 grandchildren: DeeDee Holbert and fiancé Ryan Lieving, Kenneth "Chip" and Misty Rogers, Adam and Autumn Fluharty, Chanell and Thomas Sands, Jay and Shannon Gillespie, Joey and Tonya Brand, Frank and Zack Bennett, Heather and Joe Sokolosky, Brandon and Jessica Harvey, Joshua Harvey, and Lauren Harvey; 13 great grandchildren: Katherine Spadafora, Makenna Rayne Rogers, Hunter Cole Rogers, Zach, Cassidy, and Sydney Sands, Taylor and Corey Gillespie, Cody Zander and Abbie Brand, Suzanna Bennett, Brant Joseph Sokolosky, and Alexis Grace Harvey and 1 great grandson due in April, and several nieces and nephews. They are also survived by Don and Dianna White, whom they always considered their family, and their family: Scott and Mary Alice Rinehart, Greg White, Jim and Melissa Moran, Jace, Tyler and Oceana Rinehart all of Mannington. Lynn is also survived by 2 sisters: Patty Neely Fetty and husband Harold, Mannington, and his nephew Brad Neely, and Dorothy Hickman, Lake Orion, MI. He is preceded in death by a brother: Randall Lamar Harvey. Gladys is also survived by 5 sisters: Dianna Anderson, Worthington, Helen Fleming, Bridgeport, Genevieve Tennant and Edith Linnabarry, both of Columbus, OH, and Elizabeth Campton, New Concord, OH. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters Ruth DeFazio, Margaret Prahl and Mary Russell and 1 brother, Clark Anderson, Jr.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all the Fire Departments and emergency personnel who responded to the scene for their bravery, concern and effort to save their beloved parents.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 E. Main St., Mannington, today from 1-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastors Tom Brown and Bill Coon officiating. They will be laid to rest in the Mannington Cemetery.

Mannington couple dies in fire

MANNINGTON — A fire late Friday night claimed the lives of a Mannington couple.
According to officials on scene, the fire began around 9:30 p.m. Fire rescue personnel were alerted after one of the victims, a woman, called her daughter to tell her that there was a fire in the house and that they could not get out.
Fire rescue personnel from Marion and Wetzel counties were on scene and worked valiantly for almost two hours to put out the fire. At its height, the flames could be seen from Farmington.
In addition to the house where the fire began, a house next door and a house behind were also affected by the flames. Even the tree outside burned.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The names of the victims have not yet been released.

FAIRMONT — At 9:30 p.m. Friday, Mannington firefighters were called out to a fire on Fairview Street that would burn until the early morning and claim the lives of a Mannington couple while a neighborhood looked on helplessly.
Lyndell and Gladys Harvey, who were in their 70s according to officials' estimates, perished in the flames. An investigation is ongoing to discover the cause of the fire.
According to Mannington Fire Chief Jim Moran, while the order of calls is unknown, Mrs. Harvey called 911 and her daughter-in-law, who lived in a garage apartment behind her house, before succumbing to the blaze.
Moran believes that the call to the daughter-in-law was made to alert the family to a fire so that they could escape
