Miss Anna Patton of Hagers Grove will be married today to Mr. Mart Gaines of Leonard.

The bride is a well known teacher of this county and is a refined and charming young lady. Mr. Gaines is a young man who enjoys the esteem of a large circle of acquaintances. They are worthy of all happiness and the Courier extends best wishes to her and congratulations to the groom.

--Mrs. Anna E., wife of mark Gaines, died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Patton, near Hagers Grove March 14, 1914, after a lingering illness of about one year. Was born Nov. 17, 1885. Aged 28 years, 3 months and 25 days. Was married to Mark Gaines Feb. 19, 1908. To this union were born two children, Helen, aged 4 years, and Marian, aged 1 year.
--Funeral services ere held Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hagers Grove Christian church, conducted by Rev. L. C. Mauck of Quincy in the presence of a large and sympathetic congregation, and who spoke encouraging words to the bereaved ones from the 15th chapter of Corinthians.
--All that a loving husband and other relatives could do was done to stay the hand of death. Two trips were made to Colorado with the hope of restoring her health, but all to no avail. Being in the West when she became seriously ill she requested her husband to bring her home that she might spend her last days with her mother and other loved ones, which he did, and which was a great consolation to all her friends.
--Anna was blessed with an unusually good disposition which was admired and loved by all who knew her and the sweet influences she had will never be lost. In her life she made the teachings of her Master her guide in all things, her Bible being her daily companion. Knowing her as we have from childhood, too much cannot be said in praise of a character such as hers. It seems sad that a mother so young and so full of ambition should taken away from her home and especially from the dear little children, but let us hope that their loss is her eternal gain.
--At the early age of 11 years she gave her heart to God and united with the Christian church at Hagers Grove where she remained a true and faithful member until last fall when she removed her membership to Berea, it being near their once happy home. When the final summons came saying. "Come ye blessed of my Father inherit the kingdom prepared for you," she never murmured but was ready and willing to go. Bidding her loved ones good bye and when too weak to speak she waved her hand as a last loving farewell.
--"Dear beautiful beckoning hands." God only knows how they long for a touch of that angel hand that is beckoning from above. In her death her husband has lost a true and loving wife and her children a devoted mother. Oh! how the dear little ones will miss a mother's tender, loving care.
--She was laid to rest in the Hagers Grove cemetery near her girhood home, there to await the coming of the Lord. Besides a husband and two little daughters she leaves a mother, 3 sisters--Mrs. Floyd Jones and Mrs. John Hall of Hagers Grove and Mrs. Chas. Bachstein of Fresno, Cala., and 3 brothers--S. S. Patton of Clarence, Mo., and W. N. and T. H. Patton of Fresno, Cala., and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death. May they all follow her as she followed her Lord and meet her again upon "the other bright shore."
