BELLEVUE, Iowa -- Florence M. Deppe, 93, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away Friday morning, Feb. 3, 2012, the 70th Anniversary of her marriage, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1918, north of Bellevue, in the Spruce Creek area, daughter of Frank and Rose (Mueller) Ernst. She married her next-door neighbor, Cletus Deppe, on Feb. 3, 1942, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2008.
Florence was a quiet, gentle woman, who enjoyed being a farmer's wife. She had pride in helping with chores, raising chickens, selling eggs and taking care of her garden. She also loved to bake, cook and can vegetables. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling.
Florence's generosity was also shown in the many organizations she belonged to. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, St. Joseph Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Jackson County Historical Society, St. Donatus Historical Society and St. Donatus Luxemburg Heritage Society.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sue and Cleta Deppe, both of Bellevue; and a sister, Lucille Keil, of Bellevue.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Ernst; a sister, Hilda Bennett; and a nephew, Dr. Kenneth Keil II.
