Bobby Jean Cross Evans age 90, of Dallas, and formerly of Royse City, Texas, passed away February 3, 2012 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Royse City on May 26, 1921 as the oldest child of Robert Alexander and Myrtle (Clark) Cross. She graduated from Royse City High School in 1938 and North Texas State Teacher's College in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in home economics. During the following years, Bobby was a teacher in Dallas, Cotulla and Gonzales, Texas, and was a dietician at Howard Payne College in Brownwood. She returned to Royse City in the early 1950s and taught 5th grade at Royse City Elementary School. She received her Master's Degree in Education from East Texas State Teacher's College in 1954. On July 19, 1954, she married Joe Evans of Nevada, Texas and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Royse City. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom Keim of Mesquite, and granddaughter and husband, Melody and Michael Jordan of Grand Prairie. Her husband, parents and one brother, James Cross, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Royse City, Texas with interment to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, February 6th at the funeral home in Royse City.
