Marley passed peacefully Thursday evening with his family by his side at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Marley was born on June 27, 1925 in Fernald, IA to Stella and Amos Anderson. He was a lifetime resident of Story County and spent his life farming with his father Amos and then his son Brett until he retired in 1998. Marley was an active member of the community his entire life serving American Legion Posts in Roland, McCallsburg, and Nevada, Heart of Iowa Coop, Story County REC, Forty and Eight, Story County Sheriffs Reserve, and Memorial Lutheran Church. Marley was also a World War II Veteran.

Foremost in his life were his faith, his family, and Lola Mae (Tjelmeland) - the love of his life whom he married on December 3, 1949 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Marley lived life to the fullest each and every day, taking his big smile and one-of-a-kind thundering laugh with him everywhere he went…always looking forward to the next Anderson family get together.

Marley is survived by his wonderful wife of 62 years, Lola Mae; six children, Rhonda (Dale) Thompson of Ephrata, PA, Shelley Ludeman of Nevada, Robin (Jack) Robertson of Prior Lake, MN, Brett Anderson of Nevada, Signa Anderson of Cincinnati, OH, and Bryce (Andrea) Anderson of Burnsville, MN; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Josephine (Swede) Heintz of Nevada, Ruth (Jack) Perkins of Iowa City, Mary Jean (Ted) Mueller of Redwing, MN; and one brother, Alan (Gloria) Anderson of Cedar Rapids. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Stella Irene (Sampson) Anderson and his son-in-law, Lavern Ludeman.

Marley- devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend- you are always loved and will be missed. A piece of your life and devotion will be carried on in ours.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5th at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6th at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David R. Burling officiating followed by military rites and a graveside service in the Roland Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Memorials may be sent to Memorial Lutheran Church or Rolling Green Village & Alzheimer's Association in C/O Memorial Lutheran Church.
