This stone is erected
in Memory of
Lt. Isaac Brewer
who departed this life
July 21st 1788
in the 47th year of his age.
He was remarkable in his
life and more so in his death.
A few months before he lost
his darling son and with him
fled all his Earthly hopes.
With Propriety it may be said
he died of a broken heart.
Excessive greef alas he
seemed worthy of a better fate.

With gliding fire an evening Star
Streaks the autumned Skies
Shook from its Seat it darts away
And in an instant dies.
