Nell Searcy Atkins

Nell Searcy Atkins, a resident of Ashford, passed away Thursday night, February 2, 2012 at her home.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Dothan City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Hughes officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Mrs. Atkins was born in Dale County and moved to Birmingham at an early age. She was employed with the U.S. Post Office and later was employed with Avon as a manager for 35 years. After her retirement she and her husband traveled the United States. Mrs. Atkins was of the Baptist faith.

She is predeceased by her parents, Ray and Bonnie Searcy and two children, David Bolick and Jimmy Bolick.

She is survived by husband of 46 years, Charles Atkins of Ashford; grandchildren, Michael Bolick (Jessica) of NC, Jamey Bolick (Kelly) of TN and Kenny (Linda) Gotham, of AL, Michelle Butler of Tampa, FL and Megan Ellis of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Joshua Bolick, Madison Bolick and Emily Bolick; nephews, John Atkins of Opelika, AL, Pat Atkins of Montgomery, AL and Charles (Chuck) Atkins of San Francisco, CA; her adopted children, Aslam Rana and Family, Sohail Qureshi and Family and Amir Qureshi and Family, all of Dothan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Destin Kelton, Russell Rana, Fassell Rana, John Chambers, John Mixon and Amir Qureshi.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aslam Rana, Sohail Qureshi, Dykes Grimes, Tom Stewart, Fran Collins, Mark Fellows, Fred Fellows, and Lester Fellows.
