Alice Wernli Henze (Granny), 93, of Elgin, Tx. passed away Wednesday, Feb.1, 2012. Alice was born in Coupland, Tx. on Dec. 31, 1918 to Emil and Mary Wernli. She was baptized July 1919 and confirmed April 12, 1934 at St. Peter's Evangelical Church of Coupland. Alice retired from Travis State School with 23 years of dedicated service. The following years of her life were spent devoted to her family.

Alice was preceded in death by parents; Emil and Mary Wernli; husband, Walter W. Henze and beloved pets Cookie, Lacy and Penny.

She is survived by her son; Gene Alan Henze and wife Margaret of Elgin; granddaughters, DeLaine Johnson and husband Charlie; Melissa Hardi and husband Bryan; Sherry Stifflemire and husband Greg; and Aleshia Harkins and husband Doyle Lee; great- grandchildren, Brittany Brown and husband Richard, Michael Boswell, Blake Boswell, B.K. Hardi and wife Christin, Maddie Hardi, Layne Harkins, Cole Cash Harkins and Levi Harkins; great-great grandchildren, Dakota Brown and Raven Hardi.

Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin. Celebration of Life services will be held at St. Peter's Church of Coupland on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Church of Coupland in Alice's memory.

Services are entrusted to Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin.
