Richard Bradley Robinson III, 90, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. He was born March 12, 1921, in Wilkinsburg, to Ralph C. and Mary (Fullerton) Robinson. He spent his summers in the Kittanning area with his grandparents, the Fullertons. He was a graduate of Swissvale High School class of 1939 and attended W & J University. Dick was a loving and very loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who enjoyed watching movies, sports, traveling and attending any event that involved his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was a "people person" and enjoyed going to any social event, large or small. Dick was a very generous person and was more than willing to help if needed. Dick joined the service with his two older brothers. He served in the Army and was stationed in England with the Commanding Forces prior to the D-Day invasion in 1944. After the invasion he was sent to France where he served as an MP in the 75th MP Company. Dick was employed by Kerr Lumber Company of Ford City prior to entering the service, and upon returning from the service and after his Uncle John Kerr's death in 1968, purchased the business. He owned and operated the business until 1999 when he sold it to Robert and Laura Swans (A+ Contracting) and continued to work there until 2009. He served as past president of the Ford City Lions club and was a past member of the Kittanning Chamber of Commerce where he served on the board of directors. He was a life member of the Wilkinsburg Elks. Dick was a devoted member of Union First Presbyterian Church, Cowansville, where he was an ordained elder, served as past church financial secretary and a past member of the choir. He was honored by the church for his volunteer work which he continued to do. His church family was very important to him and he never missed an opportunity to attend an event if he was able. The choir was was what he especially enjoyed. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hepler) Robinson, whom he married March 30, 1974; one stepdaughter, Barbara (Elder) Patton and husband, Lawrence Jr., of Kittanning; one stepson, Steven D. Elder and wife, Dana, of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Bradley Patton and girlfriend, Sarah Secunda, Juliann Patton and boyfriend, Brett Yockey, and Jeffrey Patton, all of Kittanning, and Gabriel and Kara Elder, of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Patricia (Robinson) Loughran and husband, Thomas, of Ligonier; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Barbara (Gorham) Robinson; his first wife, Roma Jean (Bowser) Robinson; three brothers, Ralph, Harry and William Robinson; and one sister, Mary Louise McCutchen. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, in Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at Union First Presbyterian Church, in Cowansville. The Rev. Mary Marks King will officiate.
