SHREVEPORT – Graveside services for Mr. Floyd Vernon Atkins, 78, of Shreveport will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday March 14, at Forest Park Cemetery with Dr. N. O. Pugh, retired Baptist Minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home.

Mr. Atkins died Sunday March 12, 1989, at Doctor's Hospital. A native of Dayton, Texas, he had been a resident of Shreveport for the past 60 years. He was a Retired Executive Vice President and past member of the Board of Directors of Commercial National Bank. He was on the Honor Roll of American Institute of Banking, member of the Shreveport Club, Petroleum Club, 40&8 Club and the American Legion. He graduated from Rutgers University and was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Marilyn Evelyn Turner Atkins.

He is survived by one nephew, James L. Fortson; three nieces, Margaret Fortson Holt, Mary Virginia Fortson Ray, and Linda Hanna Gallamore.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, La.
