Staff Sergeant Boal was a crewmember aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-40-BW Superfortress #42-24604, nicknamed "Wheel n' Deal." Killed In Action when the bomber, said to be on a weather reconnaissance mission over Japan, crashed in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo, with the loss of all eleven crew. With the 497th Bomb Group, 870th Bomb Squadron.
