JoEllen is the daughter of Jack James and Jo Ann Medland. She has a sister Rebecca Hahn Speth. She married Greg T. Bires on Oct. 15, 1977 in New London, Iowa, where she spent most of her youth. She was a graduate of the class of 1974. While in school she was active in concert, marching and stage band, basketball, cheerleading and track. She was tall, beautiful and had the most incredible brown eyes. She and Greg have two daughters, Jennifer Jo and Sarah Elizabeth. She was employed as district manager for U.S. Shoe Corp. for 15 yrs. She was a volunteer for Community Services Center in Martinsville, a girl scout leader,and a member of Tri Kappa. She passed from this life at her home in Martinsville surrounded by her family after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer..... Who could ever forget the Red Red Volkswagon Beetle and the "FULL OF LIFE" Brunette at the Wheel.........
