Alfred 'Boo Boo' Sparks, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 5, 2003. Boo Boo was born in Kildare, Texas, on December 22, 1937, to the union of Frank and Johnnie Lee Sparks. He attended school and resided in Kildare until 1957. Boo Boo relocated from Kildare to Pasco, WA, in 1957. He worked as a construction laborer, and was a member of the Laborer's Local 348. He was also employed by Boise Cascade and Goodwill Industries for a short period of time. He retired in 1990 due to illness and struggled with various illnesses until the Lord saw fit to call him Home.
Boo Boo met and married 'the love of his life' Theola in 1970. Theola was committed to Boo Boo and provided special care throughout his illness.
Boo Boo rededicated his life to the Lord in 1990, and became more active in the church serving as an usher, kitchen assistant, and janitor. Boo Boo enjoyed a very active lifestyle and had many friends. He had a genuine love for all people, and was eager to lend a helping hand whether providing food or clothing to those in need, or just being a friend.
Boo Boo also was a caring father and grandfather. He loved spending 'quality time' with his grandchildren taking them for long walks around the neighborhood.
Boo Boo was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Johnnie Lee Sparks, two brothers, M. B. 'Bill' Sparks and James Sparks, and sister Erna Mae Bates. He leaves in God's care best friend Theola Sparks, daughter April V. Sparks of Pasco, WA; four sons, Otis Winchester and Byron Sparks of Kennewick, WA; Tony Winchester of Spokane, WA; and Glen Scott of Oakland, CA. Grandchildren or 'baby cakes' Demar, KeiOsha, Stasha, Taheya, Latrell, Kendra, Dallas, and Little Glen, Jr. Three sisters, Clemmie and Dave Smith (brother-in-law), Frankie L. Stubbs, and Easter R. Minter. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family also acknowledges the care providers, Life Care Center, Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Beverly Nursing Home, and special family members who provided the extra care during Boo Boo's illness.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2003, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday, December 11, 2003, 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel, 224 South 24th Avenue, Pasco, WA. Family visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2003, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.The home-going celebration will be Friday, December 12, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 630 South Waldemar, Pasco, WA.
