Samuel David Carson, born Sept 23, 1858 in Alabama, was the son of John William Carson and Sarah Wilkey. He married Eulala G. Dunn, born Feb. 1, 1868, she was the daughter of Isaiah D. "Jim" Dunn and Jane Murray. They married in Washington County, Texas, on 1/2/1885. Both of their families were living in Washington County at the time. As a child, Eulala G. Dunn had moved to Texas from Georgia with her family some time after 1870. Samuel David Carson had moved with his family from Alabama to Texas in 1874 at the age of 16. Both of their mothers were widows in 1880.

Samuel David and Eulala moved to Mills County and lived near Pleasant Grove east of Goldthwaite. Samuel David was a Blue Lodge Mason in Goldthwaite, and they were members of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church east of Goldthwaite. Eulala Dunn Carson died in 1926 of pneumonia. At the time of her death, they were living in the Ratler community in Mills County, Texas. Samuel David then lived in Plasterco, Fisher County, Texas, near Hamlin. He traveled to California regularly to visit his children who had moved there. He was listed as a resident of California in 1930 when his brother Thomas Wiley Carson died in Houston.

Samuel David Carson died in 1938 in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas, of a stomach tumor. Both Samuel David and Eulala Dunn Carson are buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Mills County, Texas, which was next to the Methodist church (church building torn down in 1980s).
