FLOYD SMITH

Mr. Floyd Clarence (Smitty) Smith, 87, of Beaumont died Sunday, January 25, 2004, in Beaumont. He was born May 15, 1916, in Hillsboro, son of the late Walter Clarence and Cora Smith. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, a member of Calder Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He began his career as an investment broker with Rotan Mosle and Moreland in Galveston in 1948. In 1950, he helped to originate the Beaumont office of Rotan Mosle and Company, now UBS Financial Services. He retired as senior vice president of Rotan Mosle, Inc. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Winkleman and Lois Strain. Survivors include: his wife, Maria; two nephews, William C. Winkleman of Whitney and Lowell Douglas of Duluth, Georgia; and one niece, Dell Douglas of Bloomington, Indiana. A committal service of his cremated body will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, January 29, 2004) at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Broussard Mortuary of Beaumont. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
