Database of IL Veterans says born about 1834. Footprints of Marion County publication says born about 1840 (uncertain of the source). However, he had brothers born about 1831, 1833, 1834, and 1836. There is a gap between his sister born 1838 and the next brother in 1842. Therefore, 1840 makes more sense as a birth date.
