Mary Reifers Vaughan, 77, died April 15, 1972, in her home at 703 Central Avenue. A Lafayette native and lifelong resident of the community, she was the daughter of Nicholas Reifers, founder of the Reifers Furniture Company chain. She married Charles L. Vaughan on October 20, 1920; he died in 1959.

[Note: Her mother was Eliza Brown Reifers and she had at least three brothers, Charles, John and Joseph.]

Mrs. Vaughan was a charter member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and in 1971 she was honored for 60 years' service to the organization.

Surviving are three daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. George) Price, Mrs. Colleen Myers, both of Lafayette, and Mary (Mrs. Ferris) Traylor of Evansville; and two sons, Jack N. Vaughan and Charles R. Vaughan, both of Lafayette. Service April 18, St. Mary Cathedral, Rev. Fred Potthoff officiating; internment St. Mary Cemetery.
