Baltazar Avila. Born Feb. 20, 1920, died Jan. 28, 2012. Baltazar went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Jan. 28, 2012, leaving behind his loving wife of 66 years, Jennie. He was born on Feb. 20, 1920, in Capulin, N.M. He served in U.S. Army, fighting in the Pacific Theater during World War II. On Dec. 22, 1945, he married Jennie Martinez. Baltazar retired at the age of 58 after 30 years at CF&I Steel. He enjoyed 34 years of retirement going hunting, fishing, dancing with his wife, playing poker and raising sheep for the 4-Hers. He loved pulling practical jokes on all. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Charlie; daughter, Doris Jean (infant); granddaughter, Brittany Ann; parents, Sofia L. Avila and Jose Roman Avila; and sisters, Tina and Jennie. He is survived by his children, Yolanda, Baltazar Jr. (Edna), Evangiline (Roberto), Donny (Dolores), James (Lois), Esther, Tim, Greg (Karen), Louisa (Spencer), Hope (Mike), Vivian (Juanita) and Mark. He also is survived by his brothers, Jose R. Avila Jr., Jerry Avila, Carmen Avila, Orlando Avila and Abel Trujillo; sisters, Virginia Mondragon and Alicia Avila; 32 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
