Burial was at Old Armour Cemetery near Coolidge in Limestone County under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. President Edward Lyman officiated at the graveside service. Mrs. Johns was born July 6, 1918, in Coolidge to the late Bluford Sanders and Beulah May (Perry) East. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Johns was preceded in death by brothers, Ray East, and Fredrick East. Survivors include her husband, Russell Vernon Johns of Palestine; daughter, Marie Pierson of Odessa, Texas; sons, Vernon Bluford of Fenton, Missouri, and Bruce Russell Johns of Frankston, Texas; sisters, Carrie Lee Mirick of Roswell, New Mexico, Edith Hawkins of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Patsy Ann Hardin of Houston, Texas; brothers, Joyce Rodger East of Roswell, New Mexico; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tamara Johns, Heather Johns, Thad Johns, Drew Johns, Thomas Russell Dykes, and Courtney Marie Johns.
