Ann Fall Freestone (Hodnett)was born in Aldborough, Yorkshire, England. Her parents were James Fall and Elizabeth Rouston. They migrated to Prince Edward Island in Canada. Ann married Thomas Freestone (b. 19 May 1795 in Flixton, Suffolk, England) on 1 Aug 1836 in Crapaud, Prince Edward Island, Canada. James Freestone, second son of Ann and Thomas, was the first one of the family to hear the young Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) missionaries speak in a school house near their home. Ann Fall was the first member of the family to be baptized which was 10 Nov 1850. Her husband, Thomas Freestone, was next to be baptized in 1851. A company of fifty wagons was organized to go to Utah and they joined it. They started on the 10 Jun 1853, arriving in Utah the 9 Sep 1853. They went to American Fork, Utah County, and lived there one year and then moved in 1854 to Mountainville, afterwards named Alpine. Times were hard for this family. The grasshoppers came and swept almost everything off the land. They lived almost entirely on greens and pig weeds. Ann and Thomas were the parents of nine children. Thomas later was killed in July 1858 by some Indians near Parowan, Utah, when he was searching for a safer and better place to live. Due to extreme hardships, Ann married Andrew Hodnett on 5 Aug 1861. He was very good to Ann and her family. She died on 25 Dec 1888 in Alpine.
