Dickin Medal Recipient. A Boxer dog, owned by Lt. Col. A.H.K. Campbell, the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the Jerusalem Military Court, Punch and his kennel mate, Judy, frustrated a Stern Gang raid on the senior British officers quarters at Jerusalem on August 6, 1946, reportedly saving their masters' lives. Punch, took four bullet wounds from a tommy gun, his companion, Judy, protected him after he was injured, sustaining a grazing wound down her back. Both were recommended for a Dickin Medal, popularly known as the animal's VC, for their actions, the citation for which stated: "These dogs saved the lives of two British Officers in Israel by attacking an armed terrorist who was stealing upon them unawares and thus warning them of their danger."
