Susan Ijames Bonnell, 82, Henderson, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Methodist Hospital.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Henderson, Daughters of the American Revolution for 47 years, Colonial Dames and Audubon Society. Susan taught history at Barret Junior High School and later taught history and music at North Junior High School.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Whitman, who died in 1951; her second husband, Louis A. Bonnell, who died in 2005; and a son, Jerry Whitman, who died in 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas F. Whitman of Henderson and Louis Alan Bonnell and his wife, Janet, of Ormond-by-the-Sea, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Whitman of Henderson; two grandsons, Jon Whitman and Tommy Whitman, both of Evansville; two granddaughters, Leslee Whitman Davis and her husband, Steve, of Henderson and Paulette Whitman Dixon and her husband, Will, of Wayne, Pa.; a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Dixon; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. John Guthrie and Steve Davis will officiate. A private graveside service will be held in Fernwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Presbyterian Church of Henderson.

Pallbearers will be Louis Alan Bonnell, Thomas F. Whitman, Connie Keeling, Jon Whitman, Will Dixon and Steve Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rueben Boswell, Fielding Williams, Carl Fielding Bonnell, Seymour Brodsky, Bill Brodsky, Robbie Williams and Libby Keeling.
