Bernard Dale Morrison, 81, of Kuna, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at his home. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, in the Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise. Rev. John Kingrey will officiate. Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
He was born on August 15, 1916, in Riverton, Nebraska, to John and Clara Siel Morrison, the third of five children. He was baptized in the Republican River in Nebraska in 1928, through the Methodist Church. He graduated from Smith Center High School in Kansas where he competed in track and football. He married Hazel May on December 26, 1937, in Smith Center, KS, and moved to Idaho to take a job at Allumbaugh Dairy. Bernard and Hazel raised their family in Boise. They later moved to Kansas in the early 1980s. He worked at a number of different places through the years including Idaho Egg Co., Roy C. Davison, Nagel Beverage, Bob Rice Ford and Cole Oldsmobile. In 1951, he re-turned to Omaha, Nebraska, and worked for his brother, Glenn Morrison, for several months.
Bernard was a cowboy at heart and used to ride and break his colts in the evening after work. One of his early goals was that each of his children would have their own horse and learn to ride and compete. He was a charter member of the Western Riding Club and was a member for 50 years. Throughout his life he also raised Greyhounds and Russian Wolf Hounds.
He is survived by his five children, Sharon Prescott and her husband, Bill of Willard, UT, Gene Morrison and his wife, Connie of Kuna, Shirley Strickland and her husband, Gary of Eagle, Darlene Moser and her husband, Darrel of Caldwell, and Pam Morrison of Kuna; seven grandchildren, Clint Morrison, Tami Prescott Pugsley, Billie Morrison Nelson, Tyler Strickland, Jean Moser Adams, Jackie Moser Huskey and Tom Prescott; two great-grandchildren, Kelly Adams and Shelby Huskey; a sister, Opal Cameron of Boise; and a brother, Glen Morrison of Freemont, NB.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Larry; his brothers, Bobby and Gerald; and his parents. He was the hub of our family wheel and will be greatly missed. Good Bye Grandpa.
