Wife of Count Eugene Franssen of Prussia, member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, daughter of Bernard Moore Carter and his wife, Lucy Grymes Lee, the granddaughter of General "Lighthorse" Harry Lee and the niece of General Robert E. Lee.

She is buried in a plot belonging to her brother, Charles H. Carter. Her parents and her sister, Madame Mildred Randolph (Carter) De Potestad are buried in the same plot.

OBITUARY, Public Ledger, April 7, 1853, says:

On Saturday afternoon the 2nd inst., Anna Josephine Carter, wife of Eugene Franssen of Prussia.
