PHOENIX, Ariz ----- Nellie Bly Deakin, 93, of Phoenix, Ariz. died early Monday [November 14, 1983] in Phoenix, Ariz. She lived in the Fiatt and Cuba area until moving to Arizona in 1954.
She was born Feb, 21, 1890, in Fulton County, the daughter of John B. and Mary (Manion) Churchill. She married Roy Deakin Jan. 22, 1914. He died May 4, 1970.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Fred Elmer Deakin, who was killed in World War II, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one son, Don Justus Deakin of rural Cuba, one daughter, Gladys Sartoris of Phoenix, Ariz., six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Graveside services were to be today in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.
