Big Mama, Ada Baxter was born to, Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Moore) McAdams & Thomas J. McAdams.
Big Mama wed Claude (NO INITIAL) Baxter on March 21, 1925 at Polk County, Texas. Big Papa was the love of her life! They were like salt & pepper! Always together and ya had to have both of them! Such a loving, generous couple. Their life wasn't always a bed of roses, yet they made things the best they could for them and their loved ones, no matter what they had to sacrifice and do without. Big Mama was a housewife, while Big Papa worked outside the home at the sawmill in Livingston, Texas. They owned their home and some land and had many "Family Reunions" there.

Grandma was known to all of us as "Big Mama", and Grandpa Claude Baxter ~ "Big Papa".
Big Mama was always in the kitchen cooking for the masses and was an awesome, hardworking cook! She had to carry in water from the well and boil it, till my Daddy, Claude Eugene, talked them into allowing him to put plumbing and running water in and to the house! Along with a tub, sinks and a toilet. No more outhouse trips in the dark and fetching water from the well- they capped the well, after modernized plumbing and running water was plumbed in the house. That meant no more baths in the #9 washtub for us youngins- all sharing water! Lol! Ah man, those were the days!
Big Mama made the best sweet tea in the world and even today, I can taste it but can never duplicate it like hers. Must have been the water! Or just Big Mama's loving touches incorporated.
She raised chickens, for meat and eggs and had a nice coop with the meanest chickens and a rooster, ya ever have seen! If you weren't a regular to the critters, then DO NOT ENTER! The rooster chases and spikes you, the hens turn and break their eggs, so you can't get them. Big Mama only sent me once to gather eggs. I was from the city! Lol! I had a big ole basket to fill. Did I mention, when I ran to escape from the rooster, yelling and crying~~I left the chicken coop gate wide open? My huge ole basket had 4 eggs in it!
Big Mama had the gift of Hospitality. Made everyone feel welcomed and fed them to the brim and showered them with love, from her huge loving heart! Her doors, should have been "Revolving Doors", due to always swinging open and slamming shut! Can't count how many times, I heard, and "Don't slam the door!"
Big Mama& Papa, gave all the Grandkids a $1 for their birthdays and a pair of underwear for Christmas! I missed a few, due to living miles away, but she was awesome! They had little and shared much. They had a mess of Grandkids!

Big Mama & Big Papa have gone home to heaven and rest in the arms of Jesus, their Lord and Savior. They are gone but not forgotten and missed beyond what words could ever express. The Family fell apart after they passed on, due to them being the glue, that held it all together! They are "Together Again".
