Mildred Elizabeth Pegram Jennings, affectionately known as "Becky." returned to the hands of the Father on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the age of 92.

Becky, daughter of the late Eddie and Annie Pegram was born in Dinwiddie County, the second of five children. She spent her young adult life in Crewe, Virginia after the family moved from the Camp Area. She visited New York and met Tommy Lee Jennings. They married on May 5, 1939 and had forty-seven wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 1986. They had no children, but were devoted to their godchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Becky was baptized at a young age at Springhill Baptist Church. She worshipped at Convent Baptist Church in New York. Upon her return to Crewe in 1979, she united with Eleven Oaks Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the Food Ministry and the Beautification Committee. Becky worked in the church until her health failed in the 1990s.

Becky was the last of her siblings; her brother Frank left us in November, 2011. She leaves behind to remember her: godchildren - Jacqueline Irwin, Rodney Noble and James Thomas Pegram II; nephews, Thaddus (Thelma) Berkley; her faithful caregiver for twenty-four years, niece Cynthia (Wendell) Pegram Ervin; nephew Robert B. (Mildren) Pegram; sister-in-law, Ruth Johns Pegram; and a host of other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Don't think of her as gone away, her journey's just begun
Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting, from sorror and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing, that we could know today
How nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
