Olive Ruth Alger, 81, of 310 Cameo Drive, Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the Autumn Assisted Living Center.

Born Tuesday, September 30, 1930 in Shippensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Angle and the late Sophie Varner Angle. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Alger in 1996.

She graduated from Shippensburg High School, and after raising her family, she was employed as a social worker for the Telemon Corporation retiring in 1992 after 20 years of service.She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter, and the Mason Dixon Antique Auto Club. Olly was an avid oil painter and was also a member of the Valley Art Assn.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann Everhart and husband Michael of Hagerstown, MD, grandson, Daniel Everhart of Baltimore, MD, granddaughter, Katie Everhart also of Baltimore, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Angle, Beulah Angle, Elsie Angle Coy, and Ethel Angle Mellinger, brothers, Paul Angle, Lynn Angle, Roy Angle, Clarence Angle, Lee Angle, Dale Angle, Earle Angle,and Harold Angle.

Services will be held Friday, January 20, 2012, at 11:00 am, at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Rd. Boonsboro, MD with the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Interment will be at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery.
