Stanley Black was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 22, 1957 the son of Dennie Harold Black and Ressie Remelda Albinah Curtis.

He was the grandson of Josie Albinah Smith Curtis (1893-1975) and Johnson Albert Curtis (1885-1948). He was the great-grandson of Jefferson Davis "Jeff" Curtis (1861-1926) and Mary Ellen Osborn (1852-1919) of Tishomingo County, Miss.

His gg-grandparents were Moses M. Curtis (1818-1900) and Elizabeth "Bettie" Blackshear (1823-1900). He was the ggg-grandson of Hillary Curtis Sr. (1795 SC - 1870 Pope Co Arkansas) and Susannah Gulley (1797 Virginia-1870) who migrated from Jackson County, Tennessee to Tishomingo County, Miss. in 1837. His gggg-grandparents were Moses Curtis (1760 Virginia - 1830 Jackson County, Tennessee) and Martha "Patsy" Curtis (1765 Virginia - 1810 Union Co, South Carolina).

Stanley Black was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He departed this life on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the age of 54 years, 5 months, 23 days.

He is survived by a son, Keith Black of Adamsville, Tennessee; a daughter, Cheyenna Mandt of Arizona; 2 brothers, Mike Curtis of Homer Glen, Illinois and Ricky Black of Leoma, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Rebecca Black Gray of Selmer, Tennessee and Anita Black of Counce, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Smolik and his aunt, Alma Racine Curtis Young (1931-1993).
