His gg-grandparents were Moses M. Curtis (1818-1900) and Elizabeth "Bettie" Blackshear (1823-1900). He was the ggg-grandson of Hillary Curtis Sr. (1795 SC - 1870 Pope Co Arkansas) and Susannah Gulley (1797 Virginia-1870) who migrated from Jackson County, Tennessee to Tishomingo County, Miss. in 1837. He is survived by a son, Keith Black of Adamsville, Tennessee; a daughter, Cheyenna Mandt of Arizona; 2 brothers, Mike Curtis of Homer Glen, Illinois and Ricky Black of Leoma, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Rebecca Black Gray of Selmer, Tennessee and Anita Black of Counce, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Smolik and his aunt, Alma Racine Curtis Young (1931-1993).
