Was Athletic Director for Dearborn Fordson High School from 1967-1985 in Dearborn, MI. He was the descripiton of the word gentleman from the word go. He was born in Cherry Vale, North Carolina and played for the University of North Carolina in the the early 50's. Dr. Lewis was loved by his family and those privileged to know him.He was also loved by the State of Michigan Football Coach's Association, by being elected in 1987 to their Hall of Fame. He received his Doctorate from the University Of Michigan, and his son Kirk played on the 1976 Rosebowl Team of Michigan and was Captain. His fishing buddy was Don Canham, former Athletic Director of the University of Michigan. He had been also a close friend of Bo Shembechler, who he vistied in 1990, religiously every couple of days in the hospital after an near fatal heart attack. When his son played for Michigan, he bacame friends with him, and Bo came to his funeral in 1991. He would of been very modest about his friendship with Bo and claim he knew him and not too well. That was the type of man he was.
