Clarence L. "Blackie" McCarty, 75, of Apple Grove died Monday, April 23, 2007 at home. Blackie was a christian and attended local churches. He was a former ACF employee with 15 years service, and a lifetime farmer.

He was born May 22, 1931 in Apple Grove, WV to the late John McCarty and Mattie McCarty Dunn.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Bateman McCarty; a grandson Adam McCarty; and brothers, Marion McCarty, John Wesley McCarty, and Chester McCarty, Sr.

Surviving are his children, Eileen "Bob" Baird and Delores "Dallas" Blake of Gallipolis Ferry; Sandra "Jeff" Halstead of Pliny; John "Connie" McCarty of Southside; Lonnie "Madora" McCarty; Larry "Lisa" McCarty; Jimmy "Connie" McCarty; and Ritchie "Kelly" McCarty all of Apple Grove; sisters, Martha Ball, Katherine Brown, Gertrude Simpkins, Hilda Fisher, Betty Rimmey, Virginia Pickens, Kay Spurlock and Edna Holcomb, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home with Max Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in the Beale Chapel Cemetery in Apple Grove. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to the Cabell Huntington Dialysis Center and nurses. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709.
