David Carpenter was born on March 20, 1810 in New York to Isaac and Hannah Carpenter.
In the mid to late 1830's he married Eliza Harriet Fuller and they moved to Freedom township in Wood County, Ohio, where they had three children, Lewis, Alice, and Laura Carpenter.
David was a farmer and while in Freedom he was also a trustee and treasurer for a short time.
Eventually they moved to Michigan and had three more children, Luna, Edwin, and Don Carpenter.
He died on September 17, 1879 in Cheshire, Michigan at the age of 69.
