SMITH, MRS. VERA GLADYS O'BRIEN CRADDOCK age 91 passed away January 26, 2004 at her home in Mesquite. She was born December 22, 1912 to Frank Monroe and Allie Johnson O'Brien in Cass County, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a retired teacher with the Mesquite ISD and a former member of the Alpha Delta Kappa honorary teachers sorority. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Rex Craddock, the father of her children, and Burnace Smith, her husband of 12 years who preceded her this past year. She is also preceded by her parents and two brothers Allie O'Brien and Edwin O'Brien. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children: Regina Gorman of Katy, TX, Carolyn Washburn of Mesquite, and Amy Craddock and her husband James Cassell of Terre Haute, IN; her grandchildren Michelle Ashton of Deltona, FL., John Scoggin of Mesquite, Allie Martin and her husband Chuck of Euless, Tracy Washburn of Mesquite, Jason Washburn and his wife Tammy of Mesquite, Jeremy Cassell of Terre Haute, IN, and Alexis Doty and her husband Richard of Alpharetta, GA; 2 great-grandchildren, Alicia Ashton of Dallas and Cohn Doty of Alpharetta, GA. Also surviving her are her brothers Harold O'Brien of Flower Mound, Frank O'Brien and his wife Bee of Paris, and George O'Brien of Poplar Bluff, MO, and beloved nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law. She will also be remembered by her many dear friends, colleagues, and students who were so special to her over the years. Services are scheduled for 2PM Thursday, 1/29/04 at the First United Methodist Church in Bogata, Texas with interment to follow at the Bogata Cemetery. Anderson Clayton 972-285-5489 Mesquite .
