Evans, Helen "Jane" Aileen Mason, age 94 of Brooksville, Florida passed away on January 10, 2012. Jane was the middle child of eleven children born to the late Clarence E. Mason and Nellie Mae Pace Mason, born on February 28, 1917 in New Market, Iowa. Jane lived in Iowa until her early twenties, and then moved to Fresno, California, and later San Francisco. While working in San Francisco she met and married a naval officer, Lieutenant Gordon Leigh Evans. The couple lived in Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1958. Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed singing in the chior. She participated in many of the Christmas Pageants. Jane worked as an executive secretary to Dr. Harry McComb in the Broward County School System for 22 years. Jane is predeceased by her husband, Gordon L. Evans, and is survived by her sisters Edris Fann, Waive Shields, and Lee Bailey, her daughter Denise Culp (Richard), son Stephen L. Evans (Linda), granddaughters, Leslie Rountree (Michael), and a great grandson Shane Michael Fano. Jane was a devoted and loving wife and mother. The family will receive friends at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 N.
