PARSONS — Judy C. Arabia, 66, of Parsons, died at 3:53 a.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Labette Health in Parsons.
She was born September 10, 1945 in Parsons, Kansas to Carl Allen and Myrtle (Whinery) Shue.
As a young girl, she grew up in Galesburg and later moved to Parsons where she was a 1963 graduate of Parsons High School.
On August 24, 1963, she and John A. Arabia were married at the Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons.
From 1963-1966, the couple lived in Pittsburg, Kansas before moving to Joliet, Illinois where they lived until 1972. They then moved to Colorado Springs, then southern California until 1977, and finally northern California before returning to Parsons in 2005.
She was a former member of the Central Avenue Christian Church.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and was an advocate for handicapped rights.
Survivors include: husband, John A. Arabia, of the home; mother, Myrtle Shue, Parsons; Two Sons, John Arabia and wife, Nicole, Vacaville, CA, and Jeff Arabia and wife, Patti, Fairfield, CA; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Aston, Vacaville, CA; eight grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Claude Shue, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, and his wife, Mary, of Kingfisher, OK; and one sister, Debbie Gordon and husband, Kevin, Welch, OK.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Shue; and one brother, Leroy Shue.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Parsons and officiated by her brother, Rev. Claude Shue.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
