Educator. A philologist, he was one of the most important researchers of the Serbo-Croatian language, as well as a defender of ideas of Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic and a great admirer of his work.. He served as the librarian of the National Library from 1856 to 1859, during which time he defined the acquisition policy according to which the Library had to have each Serbian book and all the books on Serbia and Serbs in any language. In 1859 he submitted the proposition on the official name of the National Library.
