Mr. Bret A. DeCoster, age 23, died as the result of a house fire Sunday morning, May 2, 1999, in Grand Haven. He was born August 2, 1975 in Muskegon and had been a life resident of the area until moving to Big Rapids in August of 1998. Bret was a 1993 graduate of Reeths-Puffer High School and a 1998 graduate of Grand Valley State University. He was a first year teacher at Big Rapids High School where he also coached boy's and girl's soccer.

SURVIVORS include his parents, Daniel & Rosemary DeCoster and Linda & Weldon McClain, all of Muskegon; 3 brothers, Ryan DeCoster, Tony McClain and Joshua McClain, who died along with Bret; 2 sisters, Charlotte Stevenson and Rhoda (Shane) Burling, all of Muskegon; his grandparents, Melvin & Marian Reich and Norma DeCoster of Muskegon.

SERVICES will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Central Assembly of God (896 Home Street) with the Revs. Jim Winters, Philip McClain and Curtiss McClain officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Home 737 Apple Avenue MEMORIAL GIFTS to the Muskegon Rescue Mission or Teen Challenge will be appreciated.
