Plunging from a car on the big Cyclone roller coaster, a 23-yearold Buffalo man was ground to death at Crystal Beach shortly before 10 o'clock last night. The victim was identified as Amos Leo Wiedrich, 23, of 79 Gallatin Avenue, in the Black Rock section.

The tragedy, which marred the Decoration Day opening of the Canadian amusement park, was witnessed by scores of horrified persons.
Harry Hall, manager of the Crystal Beach Company, said he thought Wiedrich jumped from the car. "There was no possible way he could have been thrown out," Hall said. "We went right over and found the safety bar in its locked position. With the bar locked it would be practically impossible to fall out. "The car had just reached the top of the second incline when Wiedrich was seen plunging down to a lower track. At the spot where he left the car, the speed had been slowed and there was nothing to cause it to lurch. The man landed on the lower level. Meanwhile, the car completed the loop and ran over him on its downward swoop."
Head, Feet Cut Off
Wiedrichs head and feet were cut off by the wheels of the coaster car and he was otherwise mangled. Robert J. Kelly, 43 Prairie Avenue. Buffalo, display manager for Harvey & Carey, Inc., was an eyewitness to Wiedrich'* death plunge. "I was standing only fifteen feet away," Kelly said. "I saw a body hurtle through the air, but at first thought ty was Just an overcoat-Then I heard piercing screams. The victim had fallen from the second incline to the lower level and was struck by the same car in which he had been riding. "Wheels on one side of the ear passed over his neck and the body was rolled along the tracks for a short distance. Wheels on the opposite side struck his legs. That stopped the car. It appeared to me he fell out of the car." William Wardop, 169 Fowler Avenue, Kenmore, standing beside Kelley, also saw the tragedy. Attendants on the roller coaster told Crystal Beach police Wiedrich had taken three successive rides before going to his death. Police Chief Frank E.
