Kermitt Clarence "KC" Avery, 50, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his home.

He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. He was a 1979 graduate of East Hardin High School and a truck driver.

He was preceeded in death by his father, James F. Avery; and his grandparents, Kermitt and Leonora Waddell and Clarence and Rachael Avery.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hayes Avery; his mother, Ada Waddell Avery; two stepsons, Jessie Mitchell and Darryl Sharritt, both of Elizabethtown; a brother, Scott A. Avery of Elizabethtown; an uncle, Mitchell (Judy) Waddell of Cub Run; and three aunts, Carolyn (Noel) Johnston of Cub Run, Marilyn (Wayland) Johnston of Elizabethtown and Delores Fletcher, of Louisville.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Visitation begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or Severns Valley Baptist Church.
