Fernande (Cote Berube) Lagasse, 94, died peacefully March 5, 2011, at North Memorial Medical Center Hospice Unit in Robbinsdale, MN.

Fern was born in Jefferson, SD, on February 13, 1917 to Alfred and Rebecca (Robert) Cote.

The family moved to Vonda, Saskatchewan when Fern was 8, and in 1935 the family returned to Dunseith ND. Fern was employed a short time at the San Haven Sanitarium.

Fern married Lawrence Berube on June 19, 1942. They made their home on a dairy farm south of Dunseith, ND.

After 26 years of marriage, Lawrence died on August 13, 1968. In August of 1975, Fern married Zenon Lagasse of Rolla, ND and they made their home in Wahpeton, ND where Zenon worked for the State Highway Department.

After retirement, they became snowbirds and lived in Apache Junction, AZ, during the winter months. They travelled across the county with their camper and enjoyed life.

After 23 years of marriage Zenon died on November 8, 1998.

During her last 11 years at Northridge, Fern enjoyed many activities including Bingo, Pokeno, trips to the Casino, card making, puzzles, and making many good friends.

She is survived by her four children: Rachael and husband, John Franchuk of Bend, Or, Robert Berube and wife Jeanne of Valrico, FL, Angela and husband, Greg Malget of New Hope, MN; Muzette Fiander of Melbourne, FL, and former son-in-law, Tom Fiander of Sarasota, FL; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Vivan Cote; many nieces and nephews;; four step-daughters, Mary Jo Eide, Yvonne Dolan, Eileen Hopkins, Phyllis Buechler, and one step-son, Michael Lagasse. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Rebecca Cote; sister, Cecile; brothers, Laureus, Urbain, and Robert; husbands, Lawrence Berube and Zenon Lagasse; and daughter Blanche.

Funeral Mass was held at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Crystal, MN on Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

A private family burial service will be held at St. Louis Cemetery. rural Dunseith, ND, in the spring,
