J. Walter Baer is remembered as an outstanding teacher for 29 years by many pupils, parents, and school administrators. He lived at Fleetwood, R. 2. Many other people remember him as a former Justice of the Peace, now District Judge, an insurance and investment broker, and a tax consultant. He was our tour guide for Crystal Cave for 50 years. Our Society also knows Walter as an interested folklorist and historian. He was born in Richmond Township, a son of the late Charles and Ida (Rothermal) Baer. He died on April 22, 1981 in his residence. He was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ. Burial took place in Fleetwood Cemedtery. Surviving with his widow Kathryn (Smith) Rhode, are 4 daughters, a son, a step-daughter, a step son, 10 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
