Rosilla Branch Thayn was the second of ten children born to Eugene Elisha Branch and Jane Blake. Her family eventually moved to Wellington, Utah where they had a farm. They had a store and ran the post office in the town.

Rosilla met and married Ebenzer Hunt Thayn. They drove to St. George with horses and a wagon to be married in the St. George Temple September 20, 1900. Ebenzer was a builder, he built and sold homes in Wellington. He also was a dairy farmer. For some time Ebby and Rosie lived in the town of Wellington during the winter and moved to their ranch during the summer, which was three miles east of town.

Rosilla worked hard, she always raised a garden and bottled fruit to help out with the living. Ebby and Rosie were very religious, taught their children the gospel and took them to church.
