Capt Simpkins Dead in France
Capt Nathaniel S Simpkins Jr.oldest son of Nathaniel S Simpkins of Beverly,died recently in France from pneumonia.
Capt Simpkins was a personal aide on the staff of General Edwards,commander of the 26th division overseas.
He was a graduate of Harvard class of 1909.He was prominent in Boston insurance circles,being connected with the firm H R Dalton & Sons. He served on the Mexican border,and there received his commission,having enlisted as a private in one of the State units.
Capt Simpkins would have been 33 years of age in December.Besides his widow Miss Olivia Thorndike of Boston,he leaves two young sons,one born since his departure for France,his parents, three brothers,John Willard and Tudor,and a sister Mrs Walter Tufts Jr.
Capt Simpkins grandfather John Simpkins was a native of Yarmouth.
