1917–2012

Dorothy Blanche (Delaney) Atha, 94, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at Saxton Riverside Care Center.
Dorothy was born in St. Joseph on April 11, 1917, to John and Blanche (Burns) Delaney. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Ann Altar Society, Quilting Club; St. Joseph Church of Easton's Quilting Group; and Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council #571.
She married Bob Atha on April 30, 1941 in St. Joseph. He passed away on September 11, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Raymond Michael and John Allen Atha; daughter-in-law, Janice Atha; and four brothers, Bernard, Maurice and Tom Delaney and Danny Karl.
Survivors include her son, Robert J. (Olga) Atha, St. Joseph; daughters, Patricia (Alfred) Miller, St. Joseph, and Charlotte (Phillip) Chunn, Savannah, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Patti Atha, St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters-in-law, Juanita Gach, St. Joseph, Peggy Horrigan, Louisville, Ky. and Sister Clairerita Atha, CSJ, St. Louis, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Paul (Jeanette) Atha, St. Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, with a Rosary at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
