(UNION HILL) Lala Edge Allen, 96, of Union Hill died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at LaFayette Extended Care Facility. Services will be at Pleasant Grove Christian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Barry Brooks and the Rev. Floyd Carmack will officiate.
Mrs. Allen is survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Allen was born in Chambers County April 28, 1908. She graduated from Auburn University in 1950 and taught in the Chambers County school system for 45 years. She was the founder of the Allen Retreat Center in Penton and was
inducted into the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, past president of the Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Inter Se Women's Federation in Wadley. She helped establish P.A.L.S. in Chambers County. She was a member of the Greater
Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Union Hill Community Club, Union Hill Fire Department, and Pleasant Grove Christian Church. She was preceded in death by
her husband, J. Emory Allen.
