Young Couple are married

A pretty autumn wedding took place at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Thompson, five miles southwest of Smithshire, on Wednesday evening, Oct. 20th, at 7 o'clock. Their youngest daughter Miss Flossye Antoinette was united in marriage to Wilbur Ray Anderson, sixth son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Anderson. The beautiful and impressive ceremony was said by their pastor Rev. G.H. McCrea of the Smithshire M.E. church in the presence of sixty invited guests, mostly relatives of the bride and groom.
To the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march played by Miss Orilla Yoho, the bridal party, led by little Evelyn Anderson, niece of the groom dressed in yellow crepe and Homer Hixson, nephew of the bride dressed in white to carry out the color scheme and each carrying chrysanthemums descended the stairs. As they reached a beautiful bower of autumn leaves and yellow and white chrystanthemum in the corner of the parlor, the children opened miniature picket gates artistically designed by the bride's brother, Clifford Thompson through which the bride and groom passed and stood upon a mat made of the flowers while the ceremony was being said.
After congratulations were offered, an elegant five-course dinner prepared by Monmouth's efficient cateress, Mrs. Eliza Smith and assistants, was served by four girls, Orilla and Ruby Yoho, Mabel Anderson and Hazel Reed.
The bride was charmingly gowned in white satin messaline with lace and net trimmings and a long veil of tulle caught by a wreath of smilax and ferns. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Her traveling suit was of dark blue broadcloth with fur trimmings (not readable) of blue and white.
Mrs. Anderson is well known in our community as a young lady of pleasing personality and is much admired by her many friends.
Mr. Anderson is a young man of honest and industrious habits, possessing many friends who will join those of his bride in extending their best wishes for much happiness.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson departed on the same evening of their marriage for Chicago to spend a short honeymoon. After returning they expect to settle on the farm of the groom's father near Smithshire, where they will be at home to their many friends.
They were the recipients of many beautiful and useful gifts.
The out of town guests were: Noah House and family of Bonaparte, Ia.; Theo Hixson and family of Mt. Sterling, Ia.; Murphy Ross and family of Granger, Mr.; Geo. Anderson of Chicago

Anderson, 72, of Smithshire, who died Friday at 3:45 p.m. near his home as a result of a heart attack, will be held at the Corman Memorial Home at Roseville Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Entombment will be in the Roseville Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home to night from 7:30 to 9 o'clock. Born Feb. 26, 1891, in Ellison Township, of Warren County, he was a retired farmer. He was married to Mrs. Flossye Thompson Oct. 20, 1915, in Media Township. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Media High School Board and its president for a number of years. He also was a township supervisor for Ellison Township. Survivors, besides the widow, include two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Winifred) Corzatt of Media and Mrs. Edwin (Lois) Strickler of Smithshire; four brothers, George of Maquon, James and Arthur, of Roseville, and Frank of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. Clifford Thompson of Smithshire; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a grandson. A memorial has. been established for the Heart Fund, and contributions may be left at the Corman Memorial Home, or Raritan State Bank.
