Mrs. Cody was born June 17, 1926, in Union County, GA, and was a daughter of the late John C. and Sadie Nicholson Thompson. She was married for 54 years to Clyde J. Cody who died January 27, 2002, and was also preceded in death by sisters, Betty Roberts of Asheville and Inez Townsend of Tunnel Hill, GA, and brothers Hoyt Thompson of Holly Springs, GA and Earl Thompson of Blairsville, GA.
After retiring from American Enka after 42 years of service she worked as a CNA for VHP until September, 1999. She was a member of Enka Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Diaz and her husband Richard of Tempe, AZ, Martha Cody Batts and her husband Al of Davidson, and Linda Shelton and her husband Terry of Charlotte; one son C. J. Cody, Jr. and his wife Dee of Leicester; two sisters Norma Johnston of Canton, GA and Sylvia Thompson of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers George Thompson of Blairsville, GA and Charles Thompson of Douglasville, GA; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
