Dorothea Margaret Wachter Bell, Oct. 27, 1921 - Jan. 2, 2011, resident of San Mateo. Beloved mother of Gary Bell of Hillsborough and Debra Norits of Etiwanda, CA, and cherished grandmother of Bridget Bell, Bryan Norits and Jane Norits. Dorothea was married for over 60 years to Charles H. Bell. Dorothea touched many lives with her outgoing nature and positive spirit. She was born in Gross Pointe, MI and graduated from San Mateo High School. She attended the College of San Mateo and graduated from U.C. Berkeley. She practiced medicine at Letterman Hospital and then with her father, the late Dr. Josef V. Wachter, in San Francisco. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, The Mills Estate Women's Club, and several medical associations. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining friends and family. Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in San Mateo. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation, Greatest Needs Fund, 1501 Trousdale Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010 in the name of Dorothea W. Bell.
